About Us

Smudges and Strokes is committed to provide quality drawing and art education for kids of all ages. We aim to provide the basic foundations of drawing and build on the technical skills of your children. We hope to enrich and develop observation and motor skills in children through art which can be applied in the study of math, science, history, humanities and world culture.

We encourage creativity in children with the expectation that it will train them to develop self-esteem, build confidence and think outside the box. We believe that their art experience will translate to new perspectives in the way they approach the world outside the art class.

Company history

Smudges and Strokes was established in October 2005 with the aim of developing and promoting children’s artistic skills in the visual arts. The company started by offering workshops at local schools and transforms the children’s artwork into personalized greeting cards. By February 2008, after much positive response and encouragement from parents, Smudges and Strokes started providing formal art classes and summer camps to children.

One year later, Smudges and Strokes changed ownership. As of February 2009, the company is now owned and operated by a joint venture between three local women, all parents of young children, who saw this venture as a way to give back to the community and fill the need to supplement art education in the school system.

Customer testimonials

this is what parents are saying about Smudges and Strokes...

"My daughters absolutely adore this class, so please let me know when it starts up again in the fall. I think you guys are doing a great job!" - Dana Baber, West Windsor

"...since the very first class [I've wanted] to tell you how impressed we are with the class. It has far exceeded anything we had hoped for in a class for children of this age. Caroline looks forward to every class and afterward shares what she has learned with us. Thank you for developing such a wonderful program."
-Kelly Kenny, West Windsor

"We have our two children in your program and are extremely happy at their progress. Your program has proved very effective for my children to the extent that one of them, from being an art-novice, recently won a prize in a community art contest. Both of them look forward to every class and they enjoy every bit of the same. We acknowledge your teaching technique and the high quality professional input our children are receiving and thank you for creating such a wonderful program right here in our town."
-Niloy Chakravorty
