Our youngest artists learn to coordinate their hands and minds as they explore the works of famous and established artists. As they examine works of art, they develop their skills of observation and learn to respond to works of art by describing and interpreting what they see. As they create their own work they learn to make choices, judgments, and corrections.
In Art Start students will:
- Learn the Elements of Art and identify them in works of art
- Learn the Principles of Design and identify them in works of art
- Learn to make analytical observations about a work of art
- Learn how artists have individual styles and approaches to making images
- Learn to make constructive criticism of their work and the work of others
Our more advanced artists continue to explore works of art as they further develop their drawing skills with more challenging experiences.
They are exposed to additional art terms and become more fluent in the vocabulary used to describe various art techniques, methods or styles.
